Fitness enthusiast, relentless adventurer, entrepreneur, humanitarian and board rider, Jay Tayler, lives life as if he is permanently on the show the Amazing Race- always seeking new challenges and fresh ways to push his own personal limits: mentally, physically and spiritually. “I feel I’m David always up against another Goliath,” says Jay.
He has run up and down Panama’s highest peak, Volcan Baru, in record time (in the dark). He’s manned the helm sailing through squalls with over 50 knots of wind on his fifth day of stepping foot on a sailboat navigating from Virginia to Colombia. He’s trained athletes in Central America to paddle from ocean to ocean. He’s rehabbed his own back injuries from a surf and snowboard accident after being told by some of the best spine specialists he would never workout or board ever again. He’s designed and test-driven his own quiver of standup paddle boards. He’s run through jungles and up the tallest mountain in Grenada barefoot. He’s paddled from NYC harbor to a Jersey beach town for charity to inspire kids to pursue their dreams. He’s donated four months of his time and money to design and pilot an inner city youth summer program. He’s sold virtually everything he owned to find himself left with a backpack of essentials and what evolved into a year sail, surf and paddle adventure. He’s camped on an island where its only water source is rain. He’s bench pressed 405lbs for 4 reps (all the way down with no bouncing) and has squatted 495lbs for 5 reps (all the way). He’s gone through reading frenzies where he would read a book a day. He’s surfed a secret spot in Central America that even a Harvard graduate couldn’t pronounce. He is a self taught nutritionist and mad scientist when it comes to the blender. He is consistently concocting one of his own home brew smoothies to fuel one of his unconventional workouts.
As a non-conformist and former suit and tie guy, Tayler decided to give up his former career in the medical industry to inspire and equip people to pursue their potential through an active healthy way of life. This dream evolved into the development of the performance lifestyle brand FIZIKEL. Tayler believes the extraordinary lies within each and every one of us. It just takes something to bring it out. Tayler has a B.S. in Exercise Science and Economics from Rutgers University and has extensive experience in personal training, nutrition coaching, and personal development.
